What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file saved to your browser when you visit a website. Sites use cookies to maintain a session, remember your preferences, measure visitor behaviour or show advertising.
Cookies are usually grouped into four categories: strictly necessary, functional, performance and analytics, and marketing and targeting.
What we use
We use no analytics tool, advertising pixel, social media plug-in or third-party tracking code. The only cookies the site sets are the two functional ones below, and they exist so that the site opens in your language.
- sm_dil
- Stores the language you chose (tr or en) so that the site opens in it next time. Written when you use the TR/EN switcher in the header, or when you open an address such as /?dil=en. Lifetime one year. First-party, no personal data.
- sm_ulke
- Stores the two-letter country code worked out from your IP address on your first visit, so that the lookup does not have to be repeated on every visit. Lifetime thirty days. First-party, holds a country code only, not your IP address.
Both are strictly necessary functional cookies in the sense of the GDPR and the KVKK: they carry no analytics or marketing purpose, so no consent banner is required for them. If you block them, the site still works: it simply falls back to your browser language and to the manual TR/EN switcher.
To determine the country on a first visit, your IP address may be sent to an IP geolocation service. The address is used only for that lookup; it is not stored by us and is not used for any other purpose.
The pages are served statically; there is no other feature requiring cookies, such as signing in, a basket or personalisation. When you fill in a quote or request form your data is sent directly and no cookie is written to your browser.
On the server side, as on every web server, access logs (IP address, date, page requested, browser information) are kept for technical security and error tracking. These logs are not cookies and are not used for marketing.
If we add more cookies later
As the site develops, features that require cookies — an analytics tool or a customer portal, for example — may be added. If that happens:
- This page will be updated and every cookie used will be listed individually.
- A cookie notice asking for your explicit consent will be shown for any cookie that is not strictly necessary.
- You will be able to keep using the site without giving consent, or after withdrawing it.
Managing cookies in your browser
Independently of the site you are using, you can view, delete and block cookies from your browser settings:
- Chrome
- Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies / Site data
- Edge
- Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage cookies and site data
- Firefox
- Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari
- Preferences → Privacy → Manage website data
Blocking all cookies may break features such as signing in on other sites that rely on them.
